Halloween Trail Run by FlutStop Halloween Trail Run by FlutStop
Got my face paints though the post and decided to give it a go. Scared my housemate more than I expected.

Have any ideas to improve this for the 31st?

Yes go ahead! No, but I looked at photographs of real human skulls to paint this. I'd recommend yo do the same. It will look the most skully that way ^_^ Also, I wish I'd painted inside my nostrils here, you should do that!

Paint your whole face white to begin with. Trace out some features with an eyeliner pencil, then go to town with black face paint. Use a thin paint brush for the little details. Have fun!

Beautifully done, and the deadpan expression just makes it more surreal, somehow!

this is FANTASTIC!! The only thing I can suggest is making the teeth go back further and having the "black space" behind the teeth go back a bit further too. (and the black should go UNDER your chin- not ON it. Only suggesting because its making your actual face look smaller/squished)

Love to see the final result with costume included!

Hmm, so the bits above and below the teeth should be bigger? I'm thinking I should paint pointy canines too.
The chin will have graduated shading going down to my neck, but I don't think my face actually looked quite as squashed as it does here. I pulled a bit of a double chin, guess I was concentrating too hard >_<

not bigger- but just moved furter back. I think if you add a few rows of teeth is all it needs to give the effect I'm trying to explain.
But it looks cool- very well done for a first go.

your makeup is great, i really like the shading on your cheeks. maybe some shading on the chin? i don't know if that would be overkill, though. the only other thing that i can think of is the line near the temple- seems a bit blurry/not as smooth/out of place.

i agree with ~7-SeVrYn-7's critique, and i think that making the eye sockets smaller (like you said) would be nice, too!

(i'm not too good at critiques, apologies.)

but again- great make up!

Yeah, the line above my eyebrow is a bit of a mistake. I'm thinking some shading on the chin will be good, so there is no harsh line. And on the day I will have flowers and feathers in my hair ^_^

this looks excellent! the only difference i would make is i would put more white on the chin, like extend the chin a little bit more so that you face doesnt look squashed, NOT THAT IM SAYING YOU LOOK BAD OR ANYTHING! it just seems you have a really tiny face like that and its a bit unporportional. if that makes sense. other than that i think its perfect!!

Ahh thanks! That's a good idea, I will take the white further down, and give it some shading under my chin. Don't worry about offending me, criticism is good for improvement.
I'm thinking I might make the eye sockets smaller and shade those nicer too.

maybe if you gave the deep black more of a difinitive line to it then shaded outward for the eyesockets it might give a more realistic look. but then again it could look cartoony, but its worth a shot trying =]

Try copying what I've done, and have a look at some skulls on google images if you want to have a go. I took some inspiration from Rick Genest too.
