I'll admit that I had to look up an image of a Maokai Sapling
I can only imagine what kind of a challenge you had to undertake for the top of the sapling to get all the interconnecting branches to be symmetrical and also look natural but you really did a great job. Though I do think the eyes could be better since they seem to be the weakest point as it looks like you tried to incorporate cat/reptile eyes but didn't quite distinguish the parts of the eyes by color. It might work if you put a small bit of stuffing behind the eye to give it a bit of a bulge.
Oh I didn't know what they were either, it was a commission. Yeah those branches were a pretty big challenge, and I had no idea how it was going to come out until it was done. I did the detail on the eyes on a whim, tried to make them look vaguely glowy. Could have gone worse Stuffing could have worked, but he's already with his new owner. She's super pleased with him, so it's all good
I can't think of a way that a glow effect could've been done without it being temporary like a sharpee, but the end result still turned out brilliantly! It really showcases your talent when issued a challenge.
If you wanted to get EXTRA fancy, you could've put plastic eyes with a green film and a tiny light inside that you could wire up, but then you'd have to worry about the bulb or battery dying and I doubt think replacing that would be easy.
